These take the edge off having a car outside you can't use and having to pay the insurance company money to have your insurance schedule changed to say "the owner cannot drive".

But if you get your driving license revoked for driving offences, you get nothing. It would seem appropriate for some scheme set up where when you get your license removed, you are fined some set amount, money which is then used to buy you 1 year's bus pass and a train card. At that point you've invested up front in the alternatives to a car, so may as well start using them. Otherwise there's a car on the pavement by your front door, a note from the insurance company saying "dont", but unless you have experience of not driving anywhere, no motivation to not actually get in the car and carry on as before, just uninsured.

One thing you can do with enforcing driving bans is for the reg #s of offenders vehicles to be passed to the ANPR watch lists, to notify police cars that this vehicle belongs to a disqualified driver. This will make them more alert to its behaviour, more likely to stop it. Which, if the disqualified driver is using it, will catch them out. Equally importantly, it's a deterrent. If you felt that the police were more likely to stop your car, you may not want to drive it while disqualified, instead try out that 1/3 off oystercard you got instead.SteveLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07654931341335136008noreply@blogger.com
