Sutton, Merton and Kingston Councils to Merge Services

The  local paper reports council services for Sutton, Merton and Kingston may be merged to cut costs. This is the latest in a pattern which saw proposed service mergers between Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark south of the river, and Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham to the north. In fact Merton and Sutton had already started sharing some services.

I doubt many cyclists in Merton will be going into mourning if the highways departments merge; it's difficult to think of anything worthwhile Merton has done for cyclists of late. Then again, things can always get worse...
